The award is not a recognition of the outstanding quality of a single wine, but is presented to the winning wine producer in recognition of their outstanding performance over many years, the consistently high quality of their wines, their success both at home and abroad, and their efforts on behalf of the wine industry.

The winner of the most prestigious national award available to Hungarian winemakers was announced on Tuesday. As a mark of respect, the Gundel Restaurant and Wine Cellar, which hosted the event, will dedicate one of the rooms in the Gundel Wine Cellar to the current holder of the ‘Winemaker of the Year’ title for one year.
