Gundel Restaurant
Perhaps not everyone is aware of this, but as well as being a restaurant, Gundel also serves as a fantastic café, and the atmosphere here really does change depending on the time of day.
If we pop in in the afternoon, we can enjoy the classic coffee-house atmosphere over a hot drink, whilst often accompanied by live music, such as soft piano music. This added touch certainly sets Gundel apart from other cafés in Budapest and offers guests a distinctly elegant yet relaxed atmosphere.
With such a wide selection of hot drinks, there’s something to suit everyone’s taste.
You can order a cappuccino, latte macchiato or hot chocolate with a golden elephant design, but they also serve classic espresso and cortado.
Among the specialities is the Gundel pancake coffee, which combines the flavours of the famous dessert in the form of a coffee: with walnuts, golden raisins, chocolate mousse and pancake. Good news for those with dietary restrictions: this drink is also available in a plant-based milk version.
There is also a wide selection of teas: English Breakfast, Earl Grey, green tea, camomile tea, peppermint tea and fruit teas, as well as rooibos, are all available.
