{"id":17919,"date":"2024-03-12T14:25:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T12:25:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gundel.hu\/?post_type=sajto&#038;p=17919"},"modified":"2024-07-15T14:26:49","modified_gmt":"2024-07-15T12:26:49","slug":"peter-bergendys-new-short-film-made-for-the-130-year-old-gundel-restaurant-tells-a-moving-story","status":"publish","type":"sajto","link":"https:\/\/gundel.hu\/en\/sajtoszoba\/meghato-tortenetet-mutat-be-bergendy-peter-uj-kisfilmje-amit-a-130-eves-gundel-etteremnek-keszitett\/","title":{"rendered":"P\u00e9ter Bergendy\u2019s new short film, made for the 130-year-old Gundel restaurant, tells a moving story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gundel is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, and this significant milestone provides an opportunity to share their unwavering hospitality philosophy with even more people: Gundel is for everyone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a press conference hosted by&nbsp;<strong>K\u00e1roly Gundel<\/strong>&nbsp;his great-great-grandchild,&nbsp;<strong>G\u00e1bor Gundel Tak\u00e1cs<\/strong>&nbsp;They screened their latest short film and reported on the new measures they had introduced to ensure comprehensive and seamless service for people with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From now on, people with hearing and visual impairments can enjoy the authentic Gundel experience even more fully:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The waiting staff have learnt the 10 most important sign language gestures for guests in both English and Hungarian, whilst the Braille menu, which details the history of the dishes, helps to ensure an even higher standard of service for visually impaired guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to all this, accessibility is also a priority within the restaurant premises.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gundel spirit of hospitality is also evident in a short film shot recently by the renowned director, whose works include, amongst others, *The Exam* and *Post Mortem*&nbsp;<strong>P\u00e9ter Bergendy<\/strong>&nbsp;produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As well as its emotional value, the short film also has educational significance. The film director explained that the short film, produced in collaboration with Gundel, tells a very human story which, as well as offering a glimpse into the workings of this unique restaurant with its rich history and ever-evolving character, also presents a fine example of people looking out for one another \u2013 a value that is increasingly being lost in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is precisely why it is important to keep reminding ourselves time and again just how simple it is to pay attention, and yet what everyday miracles it can bring about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"The Gundel is for EVERYONE! - Gundel Restaurant x Bergendy and Sons\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XarEs-aVQ-A?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jen\u0151 Magyary<\/strong>, the managing director of Gundel, confirmed that, alongside its legendary hospitality, social responsibility and sensitivity have always been part of Gundel\u2019s core values and have shaped the attitude of its staff, which is now evident in the careand hearing-impaired guests.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two founding owners of the Eventrend Group, which operates Gundel,&nbsp;<strong>Zolt\u00e1n K\u0151r\u00f6ssy and G\u00e1bor Nagy<\/strong>&nbsp;they said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">K\u00e1roly Gundel ran the restaurant in V\u00e1rosliget \u2013 founded in 1894 and later named after him \u2013 with the intention of keeping its doors open to everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has shaped Gundel into a place defined by hospitality, culinary artistry and a commitment to preserving tradition \u2013 a place where it is always a pleasure to visit.
