Gundel Palace
Event rooms
The Queen Elizabeth Ballroom
The Queen Elisabeth of Hungary Ballroom, with its Rococo style and gold stucco ornamentation, is one of the jewels of the Gundel Palace. Perfect for elegant exhibitions, conferences, press events, gala dinners, banquets, large-scale lunches, dinners and weddings. The room can easily be fitted with modern technical equipment, so it is also suitable for hosting special symposia, meetings, business brunches and, of course, elegant award events. If required, the ballroom can be used in conjunction with the adjoining Andrássy Hall. The lobby to the ballroom is suitable for welcoming guests and registration purposes and a cloakroom can be set up here, if necessary. Both the ballroom and the lobby have direct access to the first floor terrace. A beautiful red marble staircase leads up to the largest room in the building from a separate entrance for banquets.
Andrássy Room
The Andrássy Hall’s more modest size means that it can be an excellent choice for small events – meetings, training sessions, seminars or banquets. It is also ideal as an exhibition space or for coffee breaks, when used in conjunction with the adjoining Queen Elisabeth Ballroom. The Andrássy Hall can be accessed via the white marble staircase from the separate entrance for banquets, or by lift from the ground floor.
Solti Room
The Solti Room was once the Gundel family’s music room. It is now the perfect venue for intimate lunches and dinners, small events and training sessions. All the decor in this room is related to music – a truly atmospheric and unique venue for training sessions, board meetings or team building and brainstorming events.
Zsolnay Room
With its elegant style, the Zsolnay Room is an excellent choice for meetings and business lunches or dinners. Its lovely cut-glass windows and crystal chandeliers are a tribute to the taste of Károly Gundel’s wife Margit. The wonderful inlaid wooden wall panels are made of Canadian walnut. The walls are decorated with leather collages, depicting the four seasons. The room’s decor is enriched with ceramics from the Zsolnay Manufactory. The special Zsolnay tableware is in use across the whole of the Gundel hospitality business.
Herendi Room
This lovely, light little room is decorated in Rococo style and enjoys direct access onto the first floor terrace. Graced with decorative patterns and porcelain pieces from the Herend Porcelain Manufactory, this room is a real jewel in the crown of the house. It is a wonderful venue for small family or wedding lunches and business dinners.
The Family Room
The Family Room is the smallest of the separate rooms at our restaurant. This corner room was a great favourite with the Gundel family and affords a wonderful view of the gates to the Budapest City Park and Vajdahunyad Castle. The furnishings lend the room a cosy atmosphere, making it a popular choice for business discussions and a good place for signing and celebrating new business agreements.
The Library
It was in this room that Károly Gundel wrote his celebrated works, including “The Art of Hospitality”. The books lining the Library’s shelves evoke the atmosphere of Károly Gundel’s former study. It is a wonderful place for business discussions, meetings, lunch or dinner.
Winter Garden & Salon
You can gaze out through the spacious Winter Garden’s huge windows - which practically form a glass wall - onto the restaurant’s garden and flowers, leafy trees or the snow covered park in winter. In good weather, the Winter Garden opens out onto the terrace, so you can enjoy the open air. On arrival, guests enter the Salon, which is the perfect place for registration, making small talk or enjoying a coffee. This light airy space can be darkened upon request, meaning that it is a pleasant and individual venue for press breakfasts, presentations or round-table discussions.
Gundel Garden
Gundel’s impressive garden, cooled by the foliage of centuries-old trees, is a veritable oasis in the city. A breezy, shady, pleasant environment, even on the hottest summer days. Spruced up in spring 2014, with new paths, flower beds and interconnected spaces, it has become an even more pleasant and picturesque venue for elegant receptions, cocktail parties or dinner with entertainment. The partially covered space is ideal for wedding lunches and dinners, as well as for partying till dawn, with capacity for 400-500 guests. The garden can accommodate 700 to 1,000 guests for cocktail receptions.
