From an intimate family gathering to a gala event with hundreds or even thousands of guests, you’ll receive fast and energetic service combined with our customarily attentive hospitality. Based on our background of consistent high quality, we have modern technical facilities and well-trained, highly experienced professionals, including chefs, servers, and sommeliers, who are there to make you feel like a guest at your own event.

Gundel’s banquet rooms offer countless options and variations, whether for a private meeting or a grandiose gala event. To commemorate that the upper level of the building used to be the Gundel family’s residence, the banquet halls evoke the atmosphere of their former home. Besides the restaurant and the elegant Queen Elisabeth Ballroom, the building has two small halls, which capture the turn-of-the-nineteenth-century atmosphere. From early Spring to late Autumn, our guests can enjoy specialites from our kitchen in the expansive, shaded garden.

The Gundel team

Nearly 140 professionals work in the restaurant, on events, and in other units, all according to the principles of founder Károly Gundel, so that our guests can enjoy themselves and leave with the memory of a lasting experience. As a result of our professionals’ work, the number of our regular guests has been growing, and the Gundel name remains well-known worldwide as it has been for the past 125 years.

Our execuitive chef, Zsolt Litauszki, uses the utmost care to compile the menu, which is expertly prepared by his team. Our house’s innovative beverage concepts are prepared by Head Sommelier, Kitti Koór.

Gundel has always been and always will be!

Due to the current situation, from this day forward we will close temporarily.

During the 125-year history of the legendary Gundel, there have been several other occasions where the restaurant has had to close, for example, in 1944 during WWII, from 1972-1980 during a lengthy renovation, and from 1991-1992 during a complete rebuilding.

After a planned or required closure, Gundel has always returned stronger, reopening its gates, ready to face new challenges.

To protect the health of our guests and the safety of our colleagues we must close, and we hope that after a short transition period we can meet  once again!
