In memory of the work of Károly Gundel, restaurateur and gastronomic writer, the Hungarian Catering Trade Association – in collaboration with a number of partner organisations – will once again this year present the professional award known as the Kossuth Prize of the industry.

The Awards Committee, comprising representatives of 18 professional organisations and the Gundel family, reached its decision on 20 September, which was immediately announced to the members of the press present.

This year, the award went to Attila Bicsár, the executive chef at the Sauska family’s restaurants, who has a long and distinguished career,

as well as Lázár Kovács-Siklós, the then head chef of the Alabárdos restaurant – which was voted the country’s best restaurant in the 2003 ‘Stars of Hungarian Hospitality’ competition – a member of the Chaine Association’s executive committee, and a chef well known in the media.

The award will be presented at the MVI Gala Lunch, which will take place at midday on Sunday 27 October at the Gundel Restaurant; tickets can be booked via the MVI website.
