Gundel has always been more than just a restaurant: in the past, alongside gastronomy, dance and music also played an important part in the experiences enjoyed here. And now these traditions are being brought back to life! The Gundel team is launching a series of evenings of music and dance, where movement and culture come together – creating moments to remember for a lifetime.
A blend of elegance, culture and entertainment – Gundel’s evenings of music and dance are aimed specifically at the over-30s. These evenings not only encourage guests to dance, but also offer a cultural experience: ball etiquette, the history of dance, and even the 130-year-old legends of Gundel are brought to life.
During the programme, dancer Andrea Keleti will teach the basics of a different dance to interested guests each evening, whilst presenter Zsolt Lukács will guide guests through the mysteries of ballroom dancing and the history of dance. The evenings also serve as a kind of preparation, as Gundel intends to launch the first Gundel Ball next year with the aim of establishing a new tradition; participants in the summer programme who would like to be part of such a festive event will be able to step onto the dance floor with confidence.
The first evening of music and dance will take place on Wednesday 23 April 2025, and will continue on the last Wednesday of every month (28 May, 25 June, 30 July, 27 August, 24 September). The venue will be the restaurant’s indoor dining area during the cooler months, whilst the beautiful Gundel Garden will host the events during the warmer months. At these dance evenings, music and dance take centre stage alongside the cuisine. There will be no special menu for these evenings; every guest is free to choose from Gundel’s extensive menu as they please. However, there will be a band playing light dance music, a host and plenty of opportunities for couples to dance. And if anyone simply wants to watch the goings-on in such a lively atmosphere, they’re more than welcome to do so. Whilst booking a table is recommended to take part in this free programme, Gundel warmly welcomes all walk-in guests provided there are seats available.
