Gundel Restaurant in Budapest and the Three Princes, Three Princesses Movement have joined forces to raise awareness of talented children and the importance of recognising talent. Through this initiative, the prestigious restaurant and the civil society organisation are also paying tribute to those parents who spare no time or energy in supporting the development and further education of their talented children. Every Sunday, the restaurant and the movement invite a talented child to lunch – and they can bring their whole family along!
If you know of a family with one or more talented children, or if you know someone who is just starting out on their career and achieving success, please recommend them to the Three Kings. We’ll hold a prize draw to decide which child and their family will win the weekly invitation from Gundel!
The first family to be rewarded in this way were the Harasztis,
who introduced themselves at the press conference held at Gundel Restaurant to mark the launch of the campaign. Gábor and Tímea have seven sons and three daughters, and the story of this family from Bátonyterenye is nothing short of a fairy tale. Their eldest sons are already successful engineers, whilst the younger ones are achieving outstanding results in the arts. The younger Gábor and Mihály are computer scientists, whilst Sándor is a vehicle development engineer at Bosch, where his younger brother, István, is an intern. József, on the other hand, has become a dancer; he is also a finalist in the ‘Fölszállott a Páva’ talent show and a solo dancer who has won the Golden Peacock award. The twins, Mária and Júlia, are also winners of the children’s series of *Fölszállott a Páva* and are likewise recipients of the Aranypáva award. Ferenc is a secondary school pupil, whilst Erzsébet and Árpád are primary school pupils.
At the press conference held at the Gundel Restaurant, the three children of the family presented a medley of folk songs from the Gömör region, performed by Júlia, Mária and Erzsébet in Palóc folk costume. Their example encourages every family to realise that, however modest their living conditions may be, everyone has the potential to develop their talents!
„We are delighted that Gundel Restaurant also cares deeply about the welfare of families and has approached us with this lovely initiative to host a family each Sunday. We hope that other restaurants will follow their example!”
– said Fruzsina Skrabski, chair of the Movement.
„Our aim is to carry on the legacy of what Károly Gundel once envisaged, and to prove ourselves worthy of his vision. Hospitality and family were closely intertwined throughout Károly Gundel’s life, which is precisely why we decided to embark on an initiative that, on the one hand, reinforces the importance of family and, on the other, draws attention to Sunday family lunches. ”We found a partner in this endeavour in the Three Princes, Three Princesses Movement,” said Jenő Magyary, managing director of Gundel Restaurant.
At the event, Fruzsina Skrabski presented the plaque certifying the restaurant’s ‘Family-Friendly Venue’ status to the restaurant’s managing director.
Károly Gundel, the founder of the Gundel Restaurant, had this to say about children and family: „Strip away and cast aside even the slightest trace of selfishness. Devote all your strength and attention to the good of your family. Seek no other spice in life than that which your work and family provide, and do not insist on always being right. Children are the best binding agent. The more, the better. They enhance the flavour and richness of life.”
