A new era is beginning at the world-famous Gundel.

The legendary Gundel restaurant has been serving its guests for over 125 years. It has witnessed significant historical events, welcomed hundreds of celebrities over the years, and has recently undergone a major transformation; a whole new era is now beginning at the restaurant, which reopened on 8 December, wrote the hirado.hu.

Gundel is in a league of its own in Hungary’s culinary culture

A restaurant and a café where hospitality, culinary art and the preservation of tradition come together at the very highest level – for over 125 years. The restaurant has been welcoming guests since 1910 and, throughout its history, has served all those who have sought classic Hungarian cuisine in elegant surroundings. As the country’s most famous restaurant, Gundel’s reputation has spread far and wide; world-renowned public figures, queens and Hollywood celebrities have all enjoyed Gundel’s hospitality in the past.

The Eventrend Group, which successfully operates, amongst other things, the world-famous New York café, took over the running of the world-renowned Gundel in May 2021, but the waves of the coronavirus pandemic delayed the opening to such an extent that it has only officially opened today, 8 December, that this marks the beginning of yet another new era for the iconic restaurant in the City Park.
