The Three Princes, Three Princesses Movement and Gundel Restaurant have launched a relationship-building game called the ‘5 Steps for Each Other Challenge’. Those who join the challenge will receive the tasks by email, and if they complete them all, they could win a Gundel lunch! Among the participants are water polo player Gergő Zalánki and his wife, keyboardist Ágoston Fejér (Aurevoir) and his wife, as well as singer Zoltán Czutor (Belmondo) and his wife.

Anyone can take part in the ‘Three Princes, Three Princesses’ Movement’s pairs challenge www.haromkiralyfi.hu/5-lepes-egymasert-challenge can join. Fruzsina Skrabski, the movement’s president emphasised that the aim of the challenge is to ensure there are more happy marriages and fewer divorces in the country, so that more children can be born to families who want them.

„Surveys confirm that women are more willing to have a second or third child if they receive social support with their first: from relatives, friends or even neighbours, in the form of a simple meal.”

Jenő Magyary, the managing director of Gundel, pointed out that this is already the second collaboration with the Three Princes, Three Princesses Movement, as last summer the families of talented children hosted Every Sunday, a total of 95 people had lunch there. To Károly Gundel, the founder of the legendary restaurant had 13 children; it is no coincidence that Gundel today also places great emphasis on preserving traditions and supporting families.

Three well-known couples have lent their faces to the ‘Three Princes’ challenge and agreed to complete all five steps.

Quality time for parents!

Gergő Zalánki a water polo international and his wife, Fruzsina Tóth They talked about how they took on the challenge because they know that a peaceful family environment is important for children too, and that this requires parents to spend quality time together. There should be time to discuss any problems, and these tasks provide a good opportunity for this.

„To have a ”proper natter’ with one another

Ágoston Fejér keyboard (Au revoir) and his wife, Petra Fejér According to them, a relationship works well when partners are attuned to each other’s wishes and are able to forgive one another quickly. As newlyweds, even with a two-month-old baby, they believe it is important to set aside time just for each other, which is why they took on this challenge.

„I come from quite a large family, and I’ve only ever seen positive examples around me, although I do sometimes see difficulties at home in my older brothers” families. I’d like to give them examples and ideas too. I wonder if I’ll manage to do that. There are eight of us lads in the band; now everyone’s started having children – we’ve become dads one after the other – so our manager even announced: „We’ve changed; we’ve become a family-friendly band,”” said Ágoston. The keyboardist, who got married last year, added that at the start of their relationship he tried to feel his way and send subtle signals, but then Petra told him to just say clearly what he wanted, and now he speaks to her “straight up”.

Running away together

„I’m always on the lookout for whatever my wife might want, and vice versa. We keep a mental list of what each of us fancies, as if it were the other’s birthday all the time. Actually, we both love receiving and giving presents, so we’re constantly giving each other gifts – whether they’re experiences or material presents. Our communication is very successful, and forgiveness works particularly well within that. ”Our relationship is so good because we’ve become experts at forgiving each other in as little as five minutes. I’m much more forgiving; Petra still needs a bit more time, but we’re doing well,” revealed the Aurevoir keyboardist. His wife, Petra Fejér She added that, although it was still relatively new for them to be a family of three, she already felt the need to „get away” with her husband, just the two of them.

„It’s good that there are milestones in this challenge, and even if we get caught up in the daily grind, we still have the motivation to go on a date. Ágoston says exactly what he wants, whilst I don’t even know myself, but I want Ágoston to know, to figure it out and to make it happen.”

Zoltán Czutor the singer (Belmondo) and his wife, Zsanett Czutor-Kilián They pointed out that, with everyday chores and so many children to look after, it’s hard to make time for each other, so they make a point of stealing a moment for a coffee together in the morning. They explained that caring for one another is the most important thing to them, and they always want to prioritise that, which is why they decided to take on this challenge.

The relationship and the flower

„Zsani and I keep saying we’ll go to the theatre or out for dinner every fortnight or once a month, but as it’s not tied to any specific event, it often doesn’t happen. It’s much easier this way, when there are tasks that need doing. We’ve been together for thirteen years, and although I often come home late at night because of my job, I still get up in the morning to help my wife with the children,” reported the father, who is raising three children with Zsanett and, as a husband, believes: „We men like it when a woman tells us straight out what she wants.” His wife responded by saying that this is difficult because „we women often don’t even know ourselves what’s wrong with us” or what exactly we’re longing for.

„We have our morning coffees every day. It usually involves us popping into somewhere without the children and quickly going through our diaries, but I wouldn’t call it a date. It’s particularly nice that in this challenge, we’re not allowed to mention work or family. I like to compare our relationship to a flower, as both require constant care: it’s not enough just to plant it and water it; you have to look after it for it to thrive.”
